LLCG stands for Leuven Lung Cancer Group, a cooperation between the Clinical Program Respiratory Oncology of the University Hospital Leuven and referring specialists, for advice on complex patient records, organization of postgraduate training, chairing treatment guidelines, and coordination of multicenter clinical and translational research.
The program is focused on all aspects of patients with respiratory tumors (lung, pleura, mediastinum). This includes prevention (smoking cessation clinic), early diagnosis, diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy, lung cancer staging, preoperative functional cardiopulmonary evaluation, all aspects of lung cancer treatment and follow-up. Treatment is in line with the ESMO guidelines, in a cooperation between respiratory oncology, thoracic surgery and thoracic radiation oncology, and is guided by weekly multidisciplinary rounds and quarterly meetings on implementation of scientific progress.
The Clinical Trial Unit, part of the Leuven Lung Cancer Group, is incorporated within the Clinical Program Respiratory Oncology. The Clinical Trial Unit, with full-time advisory function by study nurses, is focused on clinical research of screening, staging, multidisciplinary therapies, and new molecular and immune therapies, this in frequent contact with other European, North American and Asian centres.
